The Lions Club of Felixstowe are holding their Annual Pig Race on Saturday 2nd March 2019 at the Felixstowe Trades and Labour Club, High Road West Walton. Tickets are available at £10 per person, this includes entry and a Hog Roast Roll and side salad, (chicken alternative on request at time of booking)
This is a Charity fundraising event which involves betting on the result of races with 50% of the stake going to charity. There is no age limit and the location is wheelchair friendly
This is a fun event with the runners being the pink fluffy battery powered type and not the smelly muddy ones!!

Steam & Vintage Show

The Stonham Barns Steam and Vintage Show is back again after the success of last year’s event which is a show bringing together a gathering of historic traction engines, steam rollers and other historic exhibits such as stationary engines, agricultural and construction vehicles, vintage motorcycles and bicycles, working horses, wood and metal craft and the like.

There will be demonstrations in the show ring and during the weekend the vehicles will be parked up in an area for the public to view more closely giving you chance to examine them and talk to the owners.

Also birds of prey, dog, ducks and working horse displays, Punch & Judy, a vintage market selling retro and antique clothing and nostalgic items of interest. Entertainment areas with food, drink, Morris dancing and vintage related trade and craft stalls.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.

Felixstowe.

The Felixstowe Carnival has been running for over sixty years with many colourful and elaborate themes. And this year is no exception with celebrations across all three days including a Proms Concert, the main procession and fireworks.

The theme for 2019 is ‘Decades of the 20th Century’, Felixstowe town centre and promenade will play host to the procession which starts in Colneis Road before heading down to the seafront where there are tonnes of fun activities, music and entertainment for all ages to enjoy.

As British Summertime draws to a close, the Long Shop Museum in Leiston will be turning up the heat with a fabulous weekend of engines in steam, an array of ales and some toe-tapping tunes to keep you entertained after hours. We are delighted to be working in partnership with CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale as well as showcasing some great musicians on Saturday evening to help turn the Long Shop into a veritable ‘Cathedral of Sound’. Also we have the famous ‘Doctor Busker’ performing for us on the Saturday night.
The festival kicks off from 6pm on Friday night and the museum is open until 11pm on both evenings to give revelers a chance to sample some of the fifteen different high quality ales, ciders and wines selected by the Ipswich branch of CAMRA. On Saturday it opens at 11am, with full day of exciting sounds, sights, tastes, not least through the hiss and rumble engines in full steam. Sunday is traditional music day from 11am until 4pm.
