When it comes to glamping, Cumbria is pretty hard to beat. Imagine yourself waking up beside the calm waters of the Lake District National Park, heading out on a walk over the fells, or boating on the lakes. Glamping offers a luxurious stay in nature, away from the wind and rain. Here is our guide to the best glampsites in Cumbria.

Wallsend Guest House and Glamping Pods

Set along the Solway Coast AONB, Wallsend Guest House and Glamping Pods offers a luxurious stay in a selection of five fully furnished glamping pods. Each pod sleeps up to four, and is heated and equipped with an ensuite shower room. Inside, you’ll find a double bed sofa lounge, kitchenette, dining area, TV and free wifi. Dogs are welcome, with a maximum of two per pod. The site is within the village of Bowness-on-Solway, and the local area is great for walking and cycling.

Hill of Oaks Park

Set right on the shores of Lake Windermere, Hill of Oaks Park stretches for a mile along the lakefront. There are a selection of fully furnished glamping pods and luxury safari tents to choose from. The glamping pods sleep up to four people, and have ensuite shower rooms and kitchenettes. The safari tents sleep up to six people, and come with everything from wood burners and shower rooms, to cosy sofas and a private deck with outdoor seating.

Woodclose Park

Woodclose Park is strategically located in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. There is a selection of five self-catering glamping pods available, with room for up to two adults and three children, with some of them being dog friendly. Some of the glamping pods are fully furnished and have ensuite shower rooms. Pods which aren’t ensuite have a private family bathroom. There’s also the option to hire your own outdoor fire pit. The campsite is just a ten minute walk from the historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.

Low Wray Campsite

Situated on the shoreline of the beautiful Lake Windermere, Low Wray Campsite benefits from one of the best locations in the Lake District. This National Trust site offers unique glamping choices. The tree tents are suspended in the trees and include a cosy wood burner and seating which turns into one double and one single bed. The fully furnished woodland safari tents offer plenty of space, some of which contain a double and a bunk bed, and larger ones with a king size, twin and cabin bed. The tents have wood burners and gas cooking stoves. Guests have access to toilets, showers, a shop and washing up area, and you can also hire canoes, rowing boats, kayaks and paddle boards.

Dentdale Pods

Dentdale Pods are ideally located to make the most of the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. There are two pods to choose from, each sleeping up to four people with one double and either a sofa bed or children’s bunk beds. Both pods are fully furnished and have ensuites, kitchenettes and heating. There’s also space to relax, with TV, games and wifi in each pod. A traditional, family-run farm surrounds the site, allowing you to watch the lambs running around, enjoy a BBQ or sit around the fire pit.

Beckses Caravan Park

Situated within the Lake District, Beckses Caravan Park is a great base to explore the national park, with easy access to Ullswater and Keswick. There are several glamping pods, each fitted with seating which turns into a double bed, two single beds, microwave, kettle and USB charging points. Each pod is fully insulated and fitted with a heater and lighting. Outside, you’ll find an individual car park for each pod, a BBQ area and a picnic bench. The campsite has two toilet blocks with hot water and showers, laundry service and children’s play area. Nearby there is a farm shop and a selection of pubs and restaurants.

Waterside House Campsite

Waterside House Campsite is situated on the northern shores of Ullswater. Sat at the foot of Barton Fell, it’s an ideal spot for walking, biking, sailing, fishing or simply relaxing. The campsite has a selection of fully furnished tipis and bell tents which include beds, furnishings, cooking equipment, lamps, fire pit, gas stove and outside dining area. There’s also a modern toilet and shower block, disabled toilets, children’s adventure area and a small shop.

Eden Valley Glamping

Based in the peaceful Eden Valley, this campsite offers three luxury pods in a quiet, rural location. The pods have far reaching views towards the Eden Valley and the Pennines which rise to Cross Fell in the distance. The luxury pods each have an ensuite shower and toilet, double beds and fire pit. There is also a large, fully equipped camp kitchen and communal space with a wood burning stove, and indoor and outdoor games. Only two of the pods are dog-friendly.

High Haume Farm Glamping

Just a few miles from the historic town of Ulverton, High Haume Farm Glamping has panoramic views of the Duddon Estuary and the southern Lake District hills. The site has a selection of glamping pods, and depending on the style you choose (Snug, Family, Luxury) can sleep up to four people. Inside, you’ll find everything you need for a comfy stay. Each pod is fully insulated with heating and LED lighting. The Luxury and Family pods also have an inbuilt kitchen and ensuite toilet and shower.

Waterfoot Park

Located in the Ullswater Valley, Waterfoot Park is nestled in the grounds of a Georgian mansion overlooking Ullswater Lake. The park has heated hive cabins and glamping pods which are all fully equipped. The hive cabins each have two double sofa beds and ensuite shower rooms. The glamping pods each have a double bed and double sofa bed, with ensuite room and kitchenette. There is at least one cabin and pod which is dog-friendly. Onsite is the Mansion Bar and coffee shop, small football pitch, children’s play area and reception and shop.
