The Kings Lost Jewels

Keep Escaping Castle Escape Rooms is exclusively for the Castle this Escape Experience is set on the top floor of the Castle Keep itself.

Famous treasure hunter and historian George Alderman is rumoured to have found King John’s Jewels. His collection of historical items is said to hold the key to unlocking the secrets of the Essex Magna Carta Barons and lead directly to a secret holding place for the treasure.

Recommended for ages 10+ but fun and challenging for adults too. Younger children are welcome if attending in a family group.

Suitable for 2-6 Players (Up to 8 players if 2 or more are children)

Price: Starting at £60 to £144, from 2 players to 8.

Adventure Cinema

The UK’s biggest outdoor cinema tour brings you an experience like no other.

On select nights, the Castle holds outdoor cinema featuring blockbuster movies for families to enjoy.

  • Hot food available
  • On-site bar
  • Picnics and drinks welcome – No glassware.
  • Gates open at 7:15 pm. The film starts approx. 8:45 pm.

Living History

School visits to Hedingham Castle bring history alive and we are an ideal place for children to investigate the past. The grounds provide a wonderful area for environmental and nature studies and our team of local expert historians can offer a range of tailored options when planning your visit, covering Key Stages 1 to 4.

Pricing for School Visits:

  • £6 per pupil with one free teacher/helper for every 10 pupil
    – Additional teachers/helpers priced at £7 per person
  • Professional Historian – £50 per historian
    – Topics can be tailored to your class learning objectives
  • Goody bags are available on request, from £3.50 per pupil

Hands On The Past

Twice a year for a week at a time, Hedingham Castle steps back in time. Hands on the Past is a group of medieval interpreters who come together to present Living History for Schools, for children of all ages and abilities. Learn how to be an apothecary, an archer, and how to use a pike and bow and arrow, all within medieval tents and the spectacular setting of the Castle.

Birds of Prey Educational Workshops

We work closely with Eden Falconry who are a superb family-run Bird of Prey centre in Essex. They provide educational falconry experiences for all ages; imagine flying a bird from your wrist through the historical landscape of the Castle and grounds – the thrill is unforgettable.
