WW1&2 NAS Carrier Operations

WW1&2 NAS Carrier Operations

Boscombe Down Aviation Collection

Speaker: Jim Carter

Jim has recently published a book ‘Hearts of Steel’ based on the RN career of his Great Grandfather (1918-1945).

In researching for his book Jim did learn a lot about carrier operations including the attack on HMS Illustrious during Operation Excess, British supply convoys to Malta, Alexandria and Greece.

Having a real interest in aviation and with a PPL he has agreed to put together a presentation on the formation of the RNAS/FAA, the development of the aircraft carrier and their involvement in the two world wars.
