Redwings Caldecott | Horse Sanctuary

Redwings Caldecott

Redwings Caldecott, a Visit England Quality Assured Visitor Attraction and East Life Awards Winner 2022, is a must-see for all donkey and mule lovers with a herd of over 30 of the adorable, long-eared creatures!

Among the gorgeous rescued residents is cute little donkey Esther, who was rescued from the horrific conditions of Spindle Farm in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, in 2008. Esther loves a cuddle! Handsome Shire cross Fox and cheeky Shetland pony Sampson can’t wait to meet you either!

Facilities at Redwings

Cafe & Gift Shop

After a relaxing stroll around the paddocks, you can put your feet up with a warm cuppa and a slice of cake in Oliver’s Café. There’s also an on-site gift shop offering a wide range of souvenirs, with all proceeds supporting the hundreds of animals in Redwings’ care.

Rehoming Centre

Redwings Caldecott has a rehoming centre where rescued horses find loving Guardian homes outside of the Sanctuary. You may even get to see some of the training our horses take part in to prepare them for their new homes.

More information about Redwings

Having met the centre’s lovable residents, you might like to sponsor one of the charity’s adorable Adoption Stars. Available from just £15 per year, you can adopt for yourself or as a thoughtful gift for a friend or loved one.

Redwings Caldecott is home to six Adoption Stars, including gentle giant Fox. Fox arrived at Redwings when he was only a few months old after his owner sadly passed away. Fox was unable to be rehomed because he has a condition that causes stiffness in his legs, so he needs to stay in Sanctuary care. Fox is incredibly friendly and loves a cuddle from visitors, so he became as Adoption Star! As a Shire cross, Fox is very tall, so make sure to look up when visiting to spot him.

Entry and parking are free, but donations of all sizes can really support the charity’s work and we’re so grateful for anything you’re able to give. Dogs on leads are welcome.
