Ye Olde Fighting Cocks | Pub | Heartfordshire

Pub in St Albans

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, one of the oldest pubs in the UK was once listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Formerly a Pigeon coup used by monks, the original structure dates back to 793AD. Throughout the years, we have been a place of sanctuary and relaxation for locals and visitors alike. Because of the efforts of the previous publicans and custodians, the octagonal building has been wonderfully preserved. It’s unique.

Music

Dedicated to keeping live music free, we host open mic nights, EP launches, Full bands and our yearly Famous Fighters festival.

Drink

We pride ourselves on buying locally and have a dedicated cellar man that ensures a perfect pint every time. Our wine is carefully chosen and also purchased from a local supplier.

Food

Traditional pub fare with a modern twist. Our award-winning food has been impressing our guests for years. We are very proud of every dish and our Head Chef dreams up wonderful specials every day.
