We are local. We are sustainable. We are quality.

Founded during the first lockdown of 2020 (in his grandmothers garage) Essex Spirits Co was started by ex-cocktail bartender Zane Chiswell-Rivas. His passion was evident, to make delicious spirits for enjoyment both home & behind the bar. His aim was simple – to give Essex a distillery to be proud of, by showcasing the best of local produce, using sustainable methods & most importantly making every drop memorable.

Affectionately known as ‘The Essex Distillery’, we are Chelmsford’s first ever commercial distillery where Essex Spirits Co. aims to make heritage meet innovation in every sip. From our humble beginnings in Essex (& gran’s garage) we’ve grown to share our exceptional spirits with enthusiasts around the world.

Each bottle tells a story of craftsmanship, passion, and dedication to quality, all done while trying to make a positive impact on both the environment & our local society.

Join us for a behind the scenes tour at the distillery or visit Thirst Drinks Syndicate, our external bar & shop – based under the Chelmsford Arches, for tasters, drinks and refills of your favourite Essex producers.
